CHARLESTON – As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, people around the country will celebrate our Nation’s independence. But for some West Virginians, there may be another reason to celebrate. In honor of the Fourth of July holiday, the West Virginia State Treasurer’s Office compiled a list of patriotic themed names of people due unclaimed property.

“We have thousands of people here in West Virginia that are due Unclaimed Property,” said State Treasurer John Perdue. “Highlighting a list of property owners with names that reflect the Fourth of July holiday is a fun way to get people interested and to take time to stop and check to see if they could be one of those thousands. Of course, we also hope to reunite some of these people from this list with their unclaimed property.”

Are you, or someone you know, among these patriotic unclaimed property holders?

  • Geraldine Redd—Beckley
  • James H. White—Poca
  • Monroe G. Free—Delray
  • David Starr—Wheeling
  • Richard A. Flagg—Mason
  • Andrew Brave—Huntington
  • Tablante R. Liberty—Williamson
  • Angela M Justice—Sod
  • Donna Eagle—Keyser
  • Mark Freed—Parkersburg
  • Glory Moore—Nitro
  • Gladys Starr—Charleston
  • John Hope—Culloden
  • Charles W. Banner—Bluefield
  • Edward R. Pride--Morgantown

The Treasurer urges anyone whose name is listed here or those simply curious to see if they could have unclaimed property to visit www.wvtreasury.com. There you can do a free search for unclaimed property and even start the claim process if you find your name listed. You can also call the Treasurer’s Office Unclaimed Property Division at 1-800-642-8687.

Unclaimed property is any asset from which an individual has been unintentionally separated. Examples are contents of abandoned safe deposit boxes; left-behind forgotten utility deposits; stock dividends left uncashed; and matured insurance policies never redeemed.
